劇情還是主題？・大家都會絆倒的分別

Students write plot summaries when asked for themes, every time. Plot is what happened; theme is what it was about. One is a list of events, the other is an idea — and only the second one can be argued about.
每次問主題，學生都會寫劇情。劇情是「發生了什麼」，主題是「關於什麼」。一個是事件清單，一個是一個想法——而且只有後者可以拿來辯論。

Plot: A boy loses his dog and searches the whole city for three days.
Theme: What we are willing to do for the ones we love.
Test: 主題應該可以套用在另一部完全不同的電影上。劇情不行。
