The lesson, minute by minute · 課堂流程
Review last week's assignment. Ask 2–3 students to share. Correct one common error and celebrate one strong example.
Teach 5–10 target words. Always include: meaning, Chinese equivalent when useful, example, synonym, antonym, and/or word family.
Accent Detective: listen for clues and build a 'same meaning, different word' map.
Each student produces something before leaving: a sentence, answer, mini-story, explanation, role-play, or spoken response. Keep it quick and visible.

Students think American English is the real one and everything else is a deviation — so they freeze when they meet an Indian or Singaporean speaker, and they are ashamed of their own accent. More people speak English as a second language than as a first. Say that number out loud.
學生以為美式英語才是真的，其他都是偏離——所以遇到印度或新加坡口音就當機，也為自己的口音感到羞恥。全世界把英語當第二語言的人，比母語者還多。把這個事實講出來。
Dom's activity, with the map started. Her homework asks for ten pairs, so fill these and let teams hunt for the rest. The point is not to memorize which is which — it is to stop panicking when the unfamiliar one appears.

Play three short clips from three places without saying where they are from. Students write what they understood, then guess the country. The surprise is usually that they understood more than they expected.

Dom asks for Taiwan's place in the English-speaking world, so end on it. One sentence, and it should be about being understood, not about sounding like someone else.

Prep · 備課
No preparation needed. Taiwan teaches American English, so students assume everything else is wrong — including their own. Dom's note asks you to celebrate English as an international language and to include Taiwan in it. That framing is the lesson: being understood matters more than sounding American.
