Story Dice · four cups

故事骰・四個杯子

Dom's dice need faces, so here they are. Each team draws one from each cup and must use all four. The constraint is the point — a story nobody chose is easier to start than a story you have to invent from nothing.
Dom 的骰子需要骰面，這裡備好了。每組從四個杯子各抽一張，四樣都要用上。限制本身就是重點——沒得挑的故事，反而比從零想像容易開始。

The trap · 'and then' eleven times

陷阱・十一個 and then

Chinese strings a story with 然後 and nobody minds. English counts repetitions, and 'and then' five times in a row is the clearest sign of a beginner. Give them six replacements and ban the phrase for one draft.
中文用「然後」串故事，沒有人會覺得奇怪。英文會數重複，連續五個 and then 是最明顯的初學者標記。給他們六個替代品，然後規定這一稿禁用。

✗ She opened the door and then she saw the box and then she opened it.
✓ She opened the door. Inside was a box. Without thinking, she opened it.
Rule for this draft: you may use 'and then' exactly once.

The shape of a story · five beats

故事的形狀・五個拍子

Draw this as a line that climbs and drops. Dom's homework is a 150-word outline, so fill the five beats in class and the outline is done — one sentence per beat is enough.
把它畫成一條上升再落下的線。Dom 的作業是 150 字大綱，課堂上把五個拍子填完，大綱就完成了——一個拍子一句話就夠。

The first line only. It must make someone want the second line — a name and a problem in the same sentence usually does it.

Prep · 備課 No preparation needed. The story dice are written out below — copy the four lists onto the board, or cut them up and put them in four cups. The one thing to fix this week is 'and then', which will otherwise appear eleven times in every story.
