Dom's race needs verbs, so here are twelve. Teams call out all three forms; a point for the set, a bonus point for a correct sentence using the third form.

Three families, not thirty verbs

三個家族，不是三十個動詞

Memorizing a list of thirty is miserable. Sorting them into three shapes is a puzzle. Give students the three patterns and let them file the verbs themselves.
背三十個字很痛苦，把它們歸進三種形狀卻像解謎。給學生三種規律，讓他們自己把動詞歸檔。

① -en 家族：eat-ate-eaten · write-wrote-written · break-broke-broken · choose-chose-chosen · give-gave-given
② i–a–u 家族：sing-sang-sung · drink-drank-drunk · begin-began-begun · swim-swam-swum

The trap · the second form is not the third

陷阱・第二態不等於第三態

Chinese has one form per verb; English asks for three, and the second and third look similar enough to blur. After have / has / had, it must be the third. Write 'have + ③' on the board and leave it there all lesson.
中文一個動詞只有一個樣子，英文要三個，而第二態和第三態長得夠像，學生會混。have／has／had 後面一定是第三態。在白板寫下「have + ③」，整堂課都不要擦掉。

Prep · 備課 No preparation needed. Four of Dom's five verbs end their third form in -en — that is not a coincidence, it is a family. Point that out and fifteen forms become five patterns.
不必備課。Dom 給的五個動詞裡有四個第三態以 -en 結尾——那不是巧合，是一個家族。把這件事點破，十五個形式就變成五個規律。
