The trap · no 'will' after if

陷阱・if 後面不放 will

The single most persistent conditional error among Chinese speakers, and it comes straight from 會 sitting inside the if-half. English puts the future meaning in only one half of the sentence. Chant it: if-half present, other half will.
中文母語者最頑固的條件句錯誤，來源就是「會」待在 if 那半裡。英文只在其中一半放未來的意思。當口訣唸：if 那半現在式，另一半 will。

如果明天會下雨，我就待在家。
✗ If it will rain tomorrow, I will stay home.
✓ If it rains tomorrow, I will stay home.

Three conditionals, three distances

三種條件句，三種距離

Not three grammar rules — three degrees of how real it is. Chinese marks none of this, so give students the question to ask: is this always true, might it happen, or is it just imagination?
這不是三條文法規則，是三種「有多真實」的程度。中文完全不標記，所以給學生一個可以問的問題：這是永遠成立、可能發生，還是純粹想像？

永遠成立（零條件）→ If you heat water to 100°C, it boils.
可能發生（第一條件）→ If I finish early, I will call you.
純粹想像（第二條件）→ If I were a bird, I would fly to Japan.
注意第二條件句往回退一格：had（不是 have）· were（不是 was）· would（不是 will）

Dom's activity. Read one out; students must answer in a full second conditional, not just a phrase. The silly ones loosen the class and the serious ones are where the good English appears.
Dom 的活動。唸出一個情境，學生要用完整的第二條件句回答，不能只講詞組。荒謬的題目讓氣氛鬆開，正經的題目才會長出好英文。

出場券・一句真實，一句想像

Two sentences. The first must be something that could genuinely happen this week; the second must be impossible.
兩句話。第一句要是這禮拜真的可能發生的事，第二句要是不可能的事。

Prep · 備課 No preparation needed, and there is one error to hunt all lesson: will after if. Chinese says 如果明天會下雨 with 會 sitting right there in the if-half, so students carry it across. English forbids it. If-half present, other half will — say it as a chant.
不必備課，整堂課只獵一個錯：if 後面的 will。中文說「如果明天會下雨」，那個「會」就在 if 那半裡，學生會直接搬過去。英文不准。if 那半用現在式，另一半用 will——當口訣唸。
