The lesson, minute by minute · 課堂流程
Review last week's assignment. Ask 2–3 students to share. Correct one common error and celebrate one strong example.
Teach 5–10 target words. Always include: meaning, Chinese equivalent when useful, example, synonym, antonym, and/or word family.
Restaurant Role-Play: customer, server, chef, and food critic. Add one surprise problem.
Each student produces something before leaving: a sentence, answer, mini-story, explanation, role-play, or spoken response. Keep it quick and visible.

Activities you can read straight off this page, written to fit the blocks above.
可以直接照著這一頁上的活動,對應上面每一段課堂流程。
Dom's role-play, with the surprise problems written out. Four roles, and the surprise goes only to the server — nobody else knows it is coming, which is what makes the English real.
Dom 的角色扮演,意外事件已經寫好。四個角色,意外只給服務生看——其他人不知道會發生什麼,英語才會是真的。
This is not grammar, it is register — and register is invisible to a learner. 我要 is neutral in Chinese; I want is blunt in English. The fix is three phrases, and they work in every shop and counter in the world.
這不是文法問題,是語域問題——而語域對學習者是看不見的。中文的「我要」是中性的,英文的 I want 卻很直。解法就三句話,全世界的店和櫃台都通用。
Dom's homework is a menu, so start it here. The hard part is not translating the name — it is describing what is in it so a foreigner can decide. One line each, ingredients plus one taste word.
Dom 的作業是菜單,在這裡先起頭。難的不是翻譯菜名,是描述裡面有什麼、讓外國人能決定要不要點。一道一句,食材加一個味道形容詞。
One order and one question. If the order starts with 'I want', it goes back.
一句點餐、一句提問。開頭是 I want 的退回重寫。
Prep · 備課
No preparation needed. The single most useful thing you can teach this week is not a food word — it is that 'I want' does not belong in a restaurant. Chinese 我要一個漢堡 is perfectly polite; the word-for-word English sounds like a small child. Teach 'I'll have' and 'Could I get' in the first ten minutes.
不必備課。這週最有用的不是任何一個食物單字,而是「I want 不能用在餐廳」。中文說「我要一個漢堡」完全禮貌,逐字翻成英文卻像小孩子在講話。前十分鐘就把 I'll have 和 Could I get 教下去。
Optional video / media plug-in影片與媒體(選用)
Optional: cooking or restaurant review clip.
Homework回家作業 · due next week
Write a menu with 6 dishes and create a 10-line restaurant dialogue.
CEFR differentiation · 依程度分級
One plan for a mixed class: what each level is asked to produce.
同一份教案帶混合程度的班:各級學生被要求產出的東西。
food words + I like/don't like.
ordering.
explain preferences.
complain politely.
review and recommend.
Next-week routine下週例行
Next Saturday: review this homework first, then move into Week 19.
Teacher principle: Review → Retrieve → Learn → Use → Challenge → Homework. Every week runs on the same routine, so the routine can be predictable and the learning can be creative.
