The lesson, minute by minute · 課堂流程
Review last week's assignment. Ask 2–3 students to share. Correct one common error and celebrate one strong example.
Teach 5–10 target words. Always include: meaning, Chinese equivalent when useful, example, synonym, antonym, and/or word family.
Word Upgrade Auction: students 'spend' imaginary money to replace weak words with stronger, more precise choices.
Each student produces something before leaving: a sentence, answer, mini-story, explanation, role-play, or spoken response. Keep it quick and visible.

For the 35–50 min activity. Six weak sentences go under the hammer. Teams bid imaginary money; the best upgrade wins the lot. Pay more for precise, less for merely longer.

Chinese turns up the volume with 很 / 非常 / 超 on the same word, so students reach for 'very very good'. English changes the word instead — but the top rung is for big occasions. 'I was ecstatic about my sandwich' is funny, not strong. Pick the rung that fits the event.
中文用「很／非常／超」在同一個字上加大音量，所以學生會說 very very good。英文是換字——但最高一階要留給大場面。I was ecstatic about my sandwich 只會很好笑。挑對階，不是挑最高階。
Dom's October connection. Same upgrade move, spooky but gentle — good for a warm-up or for the auction lots if the class wants a theme.
Dom 指定的十月連結。一樣是升級的動作，但換成萬聖節主題，嚇人而不嚇壞——可以當暖身，或直接拿來當拍賣品。
Dom's homework asks students to explain two of their choices, so practise the explaining here. 'It sounds better' is not an explanation; 'it is stronger and the event was big' is.
Dom 的作業要學生說明其中兩個選擇的理由，所以在這裡先練說明。「聽起來比較好」不算理由；「這個字更強，而且那件事夠大」才算。
Prep · 備課
No preparation needed. Dom's four sets are ladders, not lists: each one climbs from an ordinary word to a strong one. Teach the rungs, not the words.
